Mrs. Becker

Kindergarten Teacher At Sacred Heart Since: 2015

About Mrs. Becker

Hello! My name is Sammi Becker, and this is my third year here at Sacred Heart Area School. On October 1st, 2016 I got married to Lewis Becker (I know….I didn’t even have to change my last name!)! We now live halfway between Browerville and Long Prairie. I was born and raised in Browerville, MN.  I attended Christ the King Catholic school for grades K-6 and the Browerville Public School for grades 7-12.  While in school I was active in many extra curricular activities, and was also active in my church choir. After graduating from Browerville High School in 2007, I attended college at Bemidji State University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies in 2011. After graduating in 2011, I started substitute teaching at 10 different area schools. I also worked a few (actually, a lot) of part-time jobs. At the start of the 2014/2015 school year, I did my student teaching. I student taught for 5 weeks at Staples Elementary School and 11 weeks at Motley Middle School and Staples High School. In December 2014, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education. I was informed of a position opening at SHAS quite close to the beginning of this school year.  So, I came for the interview, was hired a few hours after the interview and jumped into SHAS as the new kindergarten teacher. With two years under my belt here at SHAS, I am very excited for this 2017-2018 school year! I am having a great time so far! I love my Kindergarten class! They are soooooo much fun! I am learning a lot!  Taking the job as the kindergarten teacher has been one of the best decisions I have made.  I enjoy every minute I get to spend with my class, and though some days may be a struggle, it’s the small things about my class that make it all better.  Also it’s hard not to have a smile on my face, I mean when you have a classroom full of kids excited to learn and happy to be in school it’s hard not to be happy.  That makes my job so enjoyable!!  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends! I am a very busy-bee and like to be on-the-go a lot of the time! I love to go looking for deer!!! I go drive around a few nights a week (when I have time) and count deer! It is something that my family has been doing for as long as I can remember! I love playing different musical instruments and basically anything that has to do with music! I also love the outdoors, playing card/board games, and watching movies.
