4th Grade News

Hi! I’m Patricia DiGiovanni and I’m the fourth grade teacher here at Sacred Heart Area School.  I actually attended Sacred Heart School through 7th grade, and the next year they moved both 7th and 8th graders over to the public school.  I graduated from Staples High School and then obtained my teaching degree in Elementary Education from Moorhead State University.  My first 4 years of teaching were at Sacred Heart in the first grade, under Principal, Bernie St. Pierre.  I then spent the next 37 years as a 2nd grade teacher at Motley Elementary.  I subbed for a few years and then decided to come back to teach at my alma mater.  I’m very grateful and excited to be teaching again at Sacred Heart!  Best School ever!

I’m married to Roy, and we have four wonderful children and 16 terrific grandchildren. We dairy farmed for 37 years on our farm north of Motley. During my free time I love to spend time with my family and friends, go camping, work in my yard and garden, ride bike, ride horse, take long walks while collecting agates, read, and play with our Grandchildren..

I love being able to work with the students. I love when they retain what I have taught them and I can see their progress.  I love singing and doing plays with my students.  They’re full of fresh ideas and are so eager to learn.  We love to laugh and see the sunny side of life, and uplifting one another is a priority in our classroom.  We are pen pals with 4th graders in Cranbury, New Jersey, and enjoy communicating with them.  It’s a blessing to work with the staff here at Sacred Heart Area School, and I hope I’m a blessing to others as well.
