Audubon Center Fieldtrip

dsc08150dsc07939dsc07971The SHAS 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, along with 8 parents and 2 teachers, attended the Audubon Center of the Northwoods, near Sandstone, Minnesota, November 14-16, for a fascinating 3 day, 2 night ecological adventure.  As part of this educational experience students participated in forest nature quests, supervised up close encounters with forest animals, predator/prey role playing games, a high ropes confidence building course, KP (kitchen patrol) duty, and much more.  This field trip is a highlight for our intermediate students and has been a tradition for the past 14 years, made on alternating years with the traditional State Capitol/Science Museum field trip.  “Two thumbs up” for the Audubon Center!

The 4th graders have been very busy keeping up with their studies and preparing for the Christmas program.

In Religion we have been focusing on the season of Advent and preparing for Jesus’ birth. In math we are learning to multiply by two-digit numbers. We are wrapping up theme 2 in reading. Our stories all focused on the diversity, achievement, and spirit of the United States. We are continuing our study of
the regions of the United States. We also just started communicating via email with our pen pals in India! The students are very excited to hear if
they have received an email. Our focus in science is on ecosystems.

We are off to visit the residents at Lakewood Manor on Friday to share our Christmas excitement with them.

Wishing you all a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!! God Bless!!
