About Mrs. McIlravy
Hi! I’m Shela McIlravy, the Third Grade teacher here at Sacred Heart Area School. This year makes it 14 years that I have been teaching here and I have loved getting to know so many students.
I was born in Staples, graduated from Motley High School, and attended Moorhead State University where I met my husband, Curt. We have been married for 17 years and have two beautiful boys that we consider to be our miracles. Alex is 9 years old and is in the 3rd grade here at SHAS. Zachary is 6 years old and is in Kindergarten here at SHAS.
Family is very important to me, and I have always loved working with children. Being able to teach here at Sacred Heart has given me the opportunity to become a member of a much bigger family.
When I’m not teaching, I love to scrap book and spend time with my family.

About 3rd Grade
Wow one month down already but so much accomplished in the Third Grade classroom. We wrapped up a unit on place value in math and just started the unit on rounding numbers.
In English we have reviewed what makes up a sentence and the four sentence types we use in writing. Unit 1 in reading has helped us focus on money and when it is important and how it affects our lives.
Something new we are trying is the art of lap booking. We have made one on fire safety and will continue to make them on key topics in science, social, and some holidays.
We are very blessed to have a “special” high school helper. Her name in Ranida Chiewcharnvalijkit – no, I did not make a typing error – that is how you really spell her last name. She is a foreign exchange student from Thailand so we will hopefully learn a lot about her home country while she is with us. We are off to a great year!
