About Mrs. Almquist
Hello from First Grade! I am Mrs. JacyRea Almquist, the first grade teacher. This is my second year teaching first grade here at Sacred Heart Area School. I graduated from Bertha-Hewitt School in 2003 and then attended Central Lakes College in Brainerd and Bemidji State University. Prior to teaching at Sacred Heart I taught 5th and 6th grade for 3 year. Over the past summer I married my husband Dan and we are now living in Bertha. In my spare time I like being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and making jewelry. I enjoy teaching first grade and feel blessed to witness God’s power through my students!

About 1st Grade
Hello from the first grade classroom! We are working hard on reading and writing. This week we are learning about the long ‘O’ sound, contractions, and writing stories about our pets.
In Social Studies, we are learning about different types of families and homes.
Please work on writing your address with your first grader! In Math we are finishing a unit on Subtraction and will soon start graphing.
Each week in Religion, we discuss a new Bible story. This week we read and talked about the story of Baby Moses. We will learn more about Moses next week.
